This mint has an uncertain location. It can refer to a settlement of the astures transmontanos who inhabitated the northern región of the Cantabrian mountain range (while the Branch of the Augustans dis so farther to the south). Many authors identify it with Astorica. However, the fact that the known coins with a legend of Asturie were struck by Recared I (586-601) and Chindasvinth (642-653), and the coin with an Astorica legend by Suinthila (621-631), cannot be considered as a logical evolution of the name of the mint. This is aupported by philological sources which state that the evolution of the name is not linguistically posible.
